After ‘Mould’ by Poppy Akers
So cold, I didn’t think this would
Last night, curled up beside me
So close, so far away
Your laugh, I remember meeting
Red shirt, something in your eyes
Your legs were bare, I made you stay
Suddenly we’re here
Suddenly you’re gone
There was a moment of face to face
And then the break of dawn
Suddenly it’s not fine
Suddenly it’s a mess
There was a moment of face to face but now
There’s nothing left
Taste good, mouth on mine
It’s gonna take too long to clean
Hard work, I think it’ll be okay
I played out, scripted in my mind
Push my hair back from my eyes
But your hands never touched my face
Suddenly we’re here
Suddenly you’re gone
This body doesn’t feel like mine anymore
And then the break of dawn
Suddenly it’s not fine
Suddenly it’s a mess
This body doesn’t feel like mine anymore
So I’ll just sit
And watch you get dressed
So good, I think I heard you say
You can fucking dance, I remember your face
So close, so far away
